“La Ragazza dei Lillà” (also known as “The Girl of the Lilacs”) is an Italian mystery film directed by Flavio Mogherini and starring Laurent Terzieff, Mimsy Farmer, and Mario Adorf. It is based on the novel “Il Grande Tumulo” by Giovanni Nicosia, published in 1965. The film follows Larth, an archaeologist who is obsessed with the Etruscan civilization and the search for a famous royal tomb. He is opposed by Vasco, a hotel owner who has made a fortune by looting and selling Etruscan artifacts. One night, Larth witnesses a murder at the museum and sees a red car fleeing the scene. Larth becomes involved in a dangerous investigation, where he discovers that Vasco is behind a series of crimes related to the Etruscan heritage. He also meets Tania, Vasco’s 13-year-old niece, who develops a crush on him and tries to seduce him. Larth is torn between his passion for his work and his loyalty to his wife Eleonora. The film ends with a shocking revelation, where Larth finds out that Tania is actually his daughter, conceived during a brief affair with Vasco’s sister years ago. He also learns that Vasco is the one who killed his father, an eminent Etruscan scholar, to steal his research. Larth confronts Vasco and kills him in self-defense.
