Jessi’s Girls is a 1975 American western film directed by Al Adamson and starring Sondra Currie, Geoffrey Land, and Ben Frank1. The film is about a young woman who seeks revenge on the outlaws who raped her and killed her husband during the Mormon migration to Arizona12. The film begins with Seth Hartwell (Rigg Kennedy), a Mormon priest, and his newly wedded redhead wife, Jessica (Sondra Currie), traveling by covered wagon from Utah to Arizona. They are attacked by five marauding outlaws led by Sam Brock (Ben Frank), who rob them, torture them, and rape Jessica in front of Seth. Brock then shoots them both and leaves them for dead in the desert12. Jessica survives the gunshot wound and manages to bury her husband and remove the bullet from her breast with a knife. She wanders in the desert until she reaches the cabin of Rufe (Rod Cameron), an old prospector who lives away from civilization. He nurses her back to health and teaches her how to shoot and use dynamite. Jessica then decides to track down Brock and his gang and make them pay for what they did to her12. Along the way, Jessica encounters three female criminals who are imprisoned by Sheriff Clay (Geoffrey Land) for various crimes. They are Rachel McBride (Jennifer Bishop), a wanted robber and murderer; Claire (Regina Carrol), a saloon girl who stole money from her client; and Maria (Ellyn Stern), a half-Indian, half-Mexican girl who helped Brock’s gang rob a bank. Jessica frees them from their cells and convinces them to join her quest for vengeance. The four women become known as Jessi’s Girls12. Jessi’s Girls track down Brock’s gang to a town where they are hiding. They use their skills and weapons to ambush and kill the outlaws one by one, except for Brock, who escapes. Jessica chases him to a nearby mine, where they have a final showdown. Jessica shoots Brock in the chest, but he manages to light a fuse that sets off a dynamite explosion. Jessica escapes the blast, but Brock is buried alive under the rubble12. The film ends with Jessi’s Girls riding away from the town, having avenged their wrongs and found friendship in each other. They are pursued by Sheriff Clay, who wants to arrest them for their crimes, but they manage to elude him. The film closes with a voice-over narration by Jessica, who says that she will always remember Seth and that she hopes to find peace someday12.
