Don’t Breathe is a 2016 horror film directed by Fede Alvarez and starring Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto, and Stephen Lang. The film follows a trio of young burglars who break into the house of a blind veteran, hoping to steal a large sum of money. However, they soon discover that the man is not as helpless as he seems, and that he has a dark secret hidden in his basement. The film begins with a scene of Rocky (Levy), Alex (Minnette), and Money (Zovatto), three friends who live in Detroit and make a living by robbing houses. They use Alex’s father’s security company as a source of information and access to the houses. They are planning to leave the city and start a new life, but they need one more big score to do so. They learn about a house in an abandoned neighborhood that belongs to a blind man (Lang) who won a large settlement after his daughter was killed in a car accident. They assume that the man has the money stashed somewhere in his house, and that he will be an easy target. They decide to break into his house at night, when he is asleep. However, things go wrong from the start. The blind man wakes up and realizes that there are intruders in his house. He reveals himself to be a skilled and ruthless fighter, who uses his heightened senses and knowledge of his surroundings to hunt down the burglars. He also has a vicious dog that helps him in his pursuit. The burglars try to escape, but they find out that the blind man has locked all the doors and windows, trapping them inside. They also discover that he has a hidden basement, where he keeps a young woman (Emma Bercovici) chained to a bed. She is revealed to be the woman who killed his daughter in the accident, and that he has been torturing her and trying to impregnate her with his sperm using a turkey baster. Rocky manages to free the woman and tries to help her escape, but the blind man catches them and kills her. He then captures Rocky and attempts to do the same thing to her. Meanwhile, Alex manages to evade the blind man and his dog, and finds Rocky in the basement. He fights with the blind man and manages to save Rocky, but he is stabbed by him. Rocky escapes from the basement and reaches the main floor, where she finds Money’s corpse. She also finds a hidden safe, where she sees the money that they were looking for. She takes it and tries to leave, but she is confronted by the blind man again. She manages to knock him out with a crowbar and runs outside. She is chased by the dog, but she manages to get into Money’s car and drive away. She thinks that she is safe, but she sees the blind man standing in front of her. He shoots at her, but he misses. She runs him over with the car and speeds away. The film ends with a scene of Rocky and Alex’s little sister Diddy (Katia Bokor) at a train station, where they are preparing to leave Detroit. Rocky has the money with her, and she hopes to start a new life with Diddy. However, she hears a news report on the radio, where it is revealed that the blind man survived the attack and that he did not report anything to the police. The film ends with Rocky looking worried as she boards the train.
